Focus is saying 'no'
We only focus by saying no.
Choose what is important to you for a season and then do nothing besides that thing.
Steve jobs is famous for asking “what did you say no to today?”
Creating a no list for yourself with a pen and a paper is powerful.
‘What will I say no to for this season of change?’
Social media? Casual dating? Late nights? A new business (instead of the one that you are already progressing in?)
Create your no list. Focus comes from subtraction.
Another way to effectively find focus and clarity is to create a list of what definitely will lead to failure.
Charlie Munger was famous for utilizing this ‘inverse thinking.’ Figuring out what would ensure failure in a venture, then making sure to just stay away from those.
This simple form of thinking makes a ‘successful’ path very clear.
Again, subtraction instead of addition.
You don’t have a focus issue. You just aren’t saying no enough.
Seasons of focus, followed by reflection and iteration.

So many things are designed to get our attention. That’s why I love what you do to reduce digital dependence.
